GA4 Configuration

Configuring Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via GTM Assistant

Setting up Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is one of the most crucial steps in leveraging the Webgarh GTM Assistant for tracking and analyzing user interactions on your Shopify store. GA4 provides in-depth insights into customer behavior, helping you optimize your store’s performance. With GTM Assistant, the setup is simplified, allowing you to configure GA4 with just a few clicks, without needing to manually insert any tracking codes.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to configure GA4 using the GTM Assistant app:

Step 1: Log in to GTM Assistant in Your Shopify Dashboard

  • Go to your Shopify admin panel, then navigate to Apps and select GTM Assistant from your installed apps list.
  • In the GTM Assistant dashboard, locate the Services or Tag Setup section.

Step 2: Select Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Setup

  • Within the Services section, you should see a list of available integrations. Look for Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and click on it.
  • The app will prompt you to Sign in with your Google account if you haven’t done so already. This login is essential for GTM Assistant to access and configure GA4 on your behalf.

Step 3: Authenticate and Connect Your GA4 Property

  • After logging in, GTM Assistant will request permission to access your Google Analytics account. Select the Google account associated with your GA4 property.
  • If you already have a GA4 property set up for your Shopify store, select it from the list. If not, you can create a new GA4 property within Google Analytics and then return to GTM Assistant to continue.

Tip: Ensure that the GA4 property you select is correctly set up with a Measurement ID. This ID uniquely identifies your property and allows GTM Assistant to track data accurately.

Step 4: Initiate Automatic GA4 Installation

  • Once you’ve connected your Google account and selected your GA4 property, GTM Assistant will handle the installation process automatically:
    • Click on Install GA4. The app will configure the necessary tracking tags for your GA4 property.
    • GTM Assistant may prompt you to confirm some settings. Review any options presented, then proceed.

Note: The installation process may take a few moments. Please wait until GTM Assistant confirms the setup is complete.

Step 5: Verify GA4 Installation

To ensure that Google Analytics 4 is correctly configured, it’s a good idea to test the setup. Here’s how:

  • Go to your Google Analytics 4 dashboard and check the Real-Time section to see if data from your Shopify store is being recorded.
  • Alternatively, in the GTM Assistant app, you can also use the Preview mode to confirm that the GA4 tag is firing correctly.

Troubleshooting Tip: If you’re not seeing data, ensure that you’ve correctly connected your GA4 property and have the right Measurement ID in place.

What’s Next?

With Google Analytics 4 set up via GTM Assistant, you’re now ready to start tracking valuable customer interactions on your Shopify store. GA4 will allow you to monitor key metrics like page views, user engagement, conversions, and more—providing actionable insights for your business.

Reminder: GTM Assistant also supports additional tracking tags like Meta Pixel and Twitter Pixel, which can be configured in similar steps. Explore these options in the Services section of the app to extend your tracking capabilities further.
